Detox buddies

Testing out adding a couple of sprigs of cilantro to my smoothies and taking chlorella tablets.  Cilantro is supposed to mobilize heavy metals in your body and the chlorella supposedly binds to it and carries it out of your body. I think it is worth a try since I have a mouth full of metal fillings, and I mean FULL, almost all of my teeth, which I blame on questionable teeth genes and lack of flossing.

Here is a good article I found on chlorella, it is well reviewed by customers online for the most part. I've been taking it for a week already with no side-effects.  I will update if anything miraculous happens.

More guinea pig-ing...Time to really detox!

I've had a stuffy nose since January and haven't done anything about it. Everyone told me it is just seasonal allergies. I never had this problem before and it is only affecting my nose, no watery eyes, etc.

Allergens in the home?  Chemicals?  The wrath of Mother Nature because we are poo-pooing on our planet, perhaps?

I feel like my immune system is on super attack mode.

DRUGS
To see if I feel any better this week I started to limit my only drug use (caffeine) stepping down from 2 shots of espresso to--> 1 shot to--> a chai latte to--> 1 cup of green tea. This isn't a lot of caffeine, but maybe my old lady body can't handle it anymore? Speaking of drugs, I tested the Bach's Rescue Remedy, it doesn't seem to work for me. I have a feeling though if you really believe it works, it does. Mind over body.

RUGS
We have a newish area rug that appears to be a wonderful dirt, dust, dander, and bug part collector, so that is the first to be put away.

CHEMICALS
Check out this other terrible discovery of the week- the toxicity grade on the method dish washing soap I've been using.  See if any of the "natural" products you are using have been analyzed by The Environmental Working Group. No wonder my throat hurts every time I wash the dishes. UGH!  DIY time!

Glass Sippy Cup

This is a great way to reduce* your plastic exposure.

Handmade glass smoothie straw from Glass Dharma and my dear canning jar is back again. I drilled a hole in the lid with my Dremel (a girl's BF) and then used the grinding and sanding attachments. I finished off by hand sanding the hole (finger wrapped in sandpaper) so it became nice and smooth and less sharpy-knife-like. It really was super sharp so make sure you don't slice your finggy off.

*still some plastic coating on the lid :(

They actually make BPA-free real sippy cup lids for canning jars! Also, Tattler makes BPA-free lids - hmm... now I'm thinking of getting the sampler pack and drilling a hole in one of these.

Lazy Saturday

Waiting for S. to finish up his cookie, chai latte and computer capers so we can go for a walk while it is still sunny out. Tonight I am going to start working on a Green Lantern costume for Timmie, so that should be fun.

Red Sandals - Worm's eye view

Looks so cartoonish! Reminds me of Olive Oyl from Popeye...

Went to the supermarket for a test walk. Finally got my paws on some tube-free toilet paper. That's right, I'm living LARGE (yo)!
I look forward to NOT having my recycling pail filled with cardboard tubes! YAY!
