I think this is my first painted entry for illustration friday. It is Timmie wearing his fierce new lion hat. It is all the rage in Timmie fashion land. I can't stop associating the word "fierce" with Tyra Banks & photo shoots. Work it.

html epiphany

I finally found out how to make spaces and align text in the center in html today. (I've been trying to teach myself html via trial and error for the last 4 years!) The bio on my portfolio site had been totally misaligned and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Damn you elusive br and blockquote!

It will just take me a few more years to clean up the rest of the site and then I'll be good to go! :D

my teenage embroidery skillz

I think I was 15 or 16 when I embroidered this. I feel like I've gotten worse at embroidery in my old age. I need to practice more. While I'm at it, I should revisit my friendship bracelet making skills. I could probably incorporate that type of weaving into my work somehow. Woven softie belts?...hmm..

In other randomness, Sal & I won tickets to hear Bill Clinton speak at Radio City. Well, Sal won the tickets and I was his guest but anywhoo... Bill Clinton was wearing a colorful friendship bracelet. I thought that was sweet.

Renegade Craft Fair

This year I went to Renegade just as a visitor. I found 2 things that I really liked/could afford. I purchased this Etsy tote (designed by Julia Pott) from the Etsy booth and this awesome stamp from Something's Hiding in Here that I had been eyeing for months. Sal purchased a few t-shirts and a comic book. I was looking for some t-shirts too but I couldn't find any that I loved that would fit me well. Sal purchased this shirt from Viva Ortegacy (nice guy) and one of the different neighborhoods of Brooklyn from Ork Design. (I don't see t-shirts for sale on the site though)

It was so hot I couldn't even see straight. What I learned from this excursion was that less really is more regarding booth layout & merchandise. The booths that had one theme like t-shirts or just a few limited designs and/or color palette were the ones easiest to shop at, especially when it is 90 degrees out and you have sweat in your eyeballs. I will try to keep this idea in mind for my tables/booths in the future.

Trader Joe's Wild Rose soap. Doesn't look so pretty in this pic but it smells awesome and the dried rose petals scrub away any bad energy. :D

I look forward to the opening of Trader Joe's in Brooklyn.

Vintage popcorn tastes good!

Hopefully the kernels aren't vintage just the packaging and I won't be croaking from eating 30 yr old popcorn. They popped up fast so everything should be A- O - K.

APAK show at Giant Robot

If you are in the NYC area I recommend going to see the APAK show at Giant Robot. I went to check it out in person yesterday. The sweetness filled pieces definitely put a smile on my face. My favorites were the sculptures inside the glass cloches.  You can also check out the show online here.
