Chicago tips anyone??
I will be in Chicago for 3-4 days VERY soon and was wondering if anyone had any tips on places I should visit or general areas to go check out. I've never been to Chicago before. I plan on taking public transportation mostly. Will I freeze to death and/or get blown away? Is it around the same temp as NYC?

I would definitely recommend going on one of the boat tours if possible! Maybe it will be insanely cold and will be very touristy but it was such a fun learning experience. The guide explained the historical nature of Chicago's skyline. It's truly unique and beautiful.
Enjoy and I hope you stay warm!
Thanks Donna, I will try to go on a boat tour if it is not too cold!
I'm going to Chicago for a few days in mid-February and I've never been there too (the airport doesn't really count!?!) If you collect some good tips I want to know about it too!
If I come across something cool I will definitely post about it when I get back.
Ok - Chicago probably id say is the same as where you are... but be ready to be cold regardless... the boat tour is great (in the summertime) - You really should go to the Art Institute (a must!) and if you're into the whole trendy hipster stuff - run around anywhere off the Damen Blue line El. stop.
Is that area called Bucktown? I wanted to go check out the Renegade Handmade shop on West Division St.
Off the Damen stop is actually Wicker Park but you would also want to go to Bucktown... funny i went to the city today and saw a Bucktown sign and said 'DONT FORGET TO MENTION IT TO HER!' haha!
other than those areas for your type of stuff - you really have to have a food adventure in chicago.. have no fear!
when are you coming to chicago?

Thanks Suzanne! Sal & I will be getting there this Thursday morning (eeek I gotta pack!). I'm definitely not going to worry about the food. I've heard awesome things about the eateries in Chicago. We will undoubtedly be engorging ourselves on a daily basis! :D
Enjoy Chicago! Just a few more tips - take any map you can get your hands on. and if you're into seeing a pretty easy history lesson of chicago - the Chicago Historical Museum (go figure!) is great. Oh and try Garrets Popcorn...if its made fresh. Get both cheddar and carmel - but seperate bags.
PS- best deep dish is either Baccinos or Ginos East. fyi imo :)
