the line about making God laugh is a lyric from a Clay Aiken song. (don't ask how I know this.) let's hope that's not the original source.

ok, I looked it up and it is an old proverb. phew :) It makes sense to me that if you have no plans or hopes for anything you will less likely be disappointed and in turn be happier.
its even better in yiddish
my mother used to say it all the time
It speaks about those that make all of these big plans with their life when they can't even guarantee they will be around in the next ten minutes.
But the thought that you could die any second and you have no control over your destiny is very paralyzing. Even if it is true.
Me, I'd rather worry about the cupcakes Im having tomorrow. Seems like more of an upbeat thought.
*waves at marilyn* hiii! havent been around here in like FOREVER.
I hear you m. patrizio... you keep doing what you do which is always putting a smile on my face when I check your site. :)
Thanks Earthless, you just put a smile on MY face!
Amy- How the hell do you stay so skinny with all your cupcake consumption??
M, it's called Crack.
:P I kid i kid
Ah, it all makes sense now... :D
the wisdom of the teabag! i like it.
Tea bag wisdom is a lot better than a fortune cookie I had last week. The fortune said "There you go. Whole wheat, fat-free green tea."
It was mocking my meal choices.
