So fresh and so clean clean

Well maybe not fresh or clean but definitely more tidy. I organized my portfolio site a bit better last night. Currently it's a mish mash of painted stuff and digital "cute" stuff which totally don't go together stylistically but that is just how my brain functions right now. I have trouble choosing one over the other. What are your feelings about having one certain style? I think to have just one would be better for business...oh well.

Above is an image from my '04 sketchbook.

I think having a whole bunch is much better for business. You are so talented and people need to see it! Plus, I'm far more interested in your cute stuff than in your serious stuff, and I'm sure others feel the opposite.

I think everything you do is awesome. I love your paintings but I think I prefer the digital cute stuff. Your digital work is funny, charming, and has lots of personality.

I think maybe as far as your site goes it's ok to have different styles. It shows you are a well-rounded artist.

I like the painterly style too! It's very sophisticated. I don't think it's 'bad' to work or experiment in differnt styles, as well as having one 'signature style' doesn't automatically make your work any better.
For me personally, it would be a bit boring to be stuck with one particular style anyway...

This is my eternal question.

I know that having one instantly recognizable style is probably better for biz . . . it seems to me that your digital style is probably more "salable," (is that a word? ) but only you can tell me that. But you know you have to do what comes from the heart, whether it sells of not . . .

I totally adore your paintings,
-the paintings makes you so special-
(for me)
I can´t draw in such a way,maybe it´s the reason,why I could stare at it,again and again.

why must your painting and vector style fit together?
btw. the styles have something in common
-power- !

I don't have any trouble with your having two distinct artistic styles, and I certainly don't think you have to choose between them. I would, however, love to see you sell some portraits through eBay or Etsy. I write for Apartment Therapy, and I'd love to feature them in my scavenger columns.

Perhaps you might consider having another site dedicated to painting/sketches exclusively. Justin Clayton, a fellow painter, is doing quite well selling his paintings through eBay - his site is http://www.justinspaintings.com/, and the links take you to his auctions. Even Domino magazine has taken notice of his work.

I think you're tremendously gifted, and I appreciate the diversity of styles. I really enjoy your blog.

I think one style is probably best for business but its not always that easy. I find having a style impossible. I think you should do what makes you happy first and foremost and all of your stuff is wonderful, in fact I would definitely say your illustrations and softies all have one style :)
