my halloween costume

my halloween costume, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

For Halloween I am going to go as a girl who is slowly mutating into a crochet pink bunny. I will wear a complete black spandex jumpsuit (the shiny kind) with maybe some pink lipstick (the shiny kind) and pink wig (the shiny kind) and the paw on my finger (seen in the pic above). Just kidding, but it does sound like a genius costume to me, subtle yet effective, maybe next year... :)

tickle tickle

tickle tickle, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

Here's a shot of the interior front cover llustration that I did in the current issue of The Adventures of Bio Boy(#2).

Please note how my finger looks like it is 6ft long in this pic. Weird, right.

Bio Boy Issue 2 is out!

Bio Boy Issue 2 is out!, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

Walk ,Don't Run (i wouldn't want you to slip and fall) to your nearest comic book shop and look for The Adventures of Bio Boy Issue 2!! It just came out yesterday and I am sure it is already flying of the shelves due to the quality color job on the cover, design work and interior front cover illustration! ;)

It is seriously packed full of great art by Andy MacDonald, and Jok! Pay special attention to the "geo boy" story by Jok,it is done with skill and tons of humor (argentinians rock!)All I can say is Mucho Gusto!

Congrats to Sal on another great issue!

Dear Santa,

I'd love some love tape.

Thanks a bunch,
MP

Need art?

, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

I found this really expensive, exotic floor mat imported from China ($3.99 usd, shh) and pinned it to my wall as *art*, consider it. It would work well in a kids room or a 27yr old's living room... Check out this lovely mat from Fred Flare!

A Swedish fish's cries fall on deaf ears...

I seriously need to stop eating all the candy that I bought for halloween! This guy only survived about 5 seconds after I took this pic. Sad but true. A candy fish life is hard sometimes. Okay I REALLY need to go do my work now.

Later alligators!

Star Magnolia trade!

starmagnolia, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

Star Magnolia sent me all this great stuff for trading crochet Bob!

What's in it:
A cute mini photo album
Bob the angry sixtopus stationery
An awesome mini-planner that is soo good looking you won't want to actually "use" it. You'll just want to preserve it as a piece of art.
Stickers!
And 3 bob buttons that my boyfriend snatched up immediately (w/some stickers btw)

Everything is soo well designed! I can't wait to see her shop fully up and running! In the meantime be sure to check out her blog!

Thanks again Amy I love it! (and so does my bf and all his buds proudly wearing Bob buttons right now) :)

Fabric design update!

Evan was kind enough to e-mail me letting me know that the zoo fabric I was drooling over was designed by Alexander Girard in the 1960's for Herman Miller for furniture coverings and wallpaper. I looked up A.G. online and I see there is a book out on his designs. I wonder if the book is good *eyes up to the side*, I would love to get it but I haven't seen the interior pages. Above is an image of another of his designs. This is definitely my favorite form of design, clean lines and straight to the point!

My new best friend!

Hello All 3 people who look at my blog! I would like to introduce you to my new best friend, Xyron! In particular Xyron Model 510, he makes stickers for me and magnets and laminates things that shouldn't even be laminated! He really is amazing! Above are the stickers that I made from the illos below. It is so much fun and so insanely easy! I might make some sticker packs and sell them in my etsy store

Also equally as cool, but I haven't tested it enough is the Jacquard "Print on Cotton" Cotton Fabric Sheets. (They also sell silk sheets, how fancy!) You can print directly on to fabric! I was originally going to try to prepare the fabric myself and use the freezer paper method, but when I went to find the chemical (bubble jet set) that seals the ink into the fabric my local craft store did not carry it and they were looking at me like I was an alien when I was trying to explain it. Anywho, I tried it and it is super thin but I think it would be cool if you fuse it to another piece of fabric and you can make pouches and stuff with it. The scissor pouch with Monster Timmie on it was made using this printer fabric. I can't wait to make more stuff when I have time...

My entry for the theme remote. I think technically if they are connected by a string it is not remote. but I'm not sure, this was the first idea that popped into my big brainz.

On the left is candy cane girl who currently lives in the U S of A with me and Peppino on the right who lives with Oriana in Italia! This is an illo of their correspondance via Verizon tin cans! Can you understand my illo now? ;)

Here is his rap:
"My name is Pulpo
Don't act like you know
I throw down the rhymes and hear the girlies screamin' all the times
I'm from Brooklyn
Some people call it Crooklyn
I just call it home when I rock the microphone...
Don't be fooled by my shy exterior
when you turn around they'll be a kick in your posterior..."

Available for weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs 1-800 gopulpo

At the fair!

the fair, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

We had a sunny day! Yay! It was so much fun, I wish we would have stayed longer. It was really great meeting people and watching them squeeze the softies and giggle like they were 5 years old.. The kids would just come by and stare at them with big open eyes like the softies were aliens of some sort. So cute!! Thanks to everyone who stopped by my table!

P.s. I plan on buying an iron ASAP, I had no idea the tablecloth looked soo wrinkly! whoopsy!

How many octopi scoops would you like?

Lopsided Larry is moving to Chicago!

Larry is moving to the windy city! He couldn't stop thinking about the deep dish pizza, the mobster Al Capone (a secret fascination of his), and the musical Chicago that he hopes his new mom will take him to (he goes crazy over musicals)! I asked him to say hello to Oprah for me when he arrives!

a nest in my nest

a nest in my nest, originally uploaded by m patrizio.

Today my air conditioner was removed and under it was a bird's nest! It doesn't really look like a nice place to raise a bird family. But I guess with nest rent these days, this is all they could afford! Don't judge.

7 days straight!

It has been raining for 7 days straight here! What the hell? Is mother nature confusing nyc for london? I figure the raindrops are starting to get tired by now.. precipitation ----> evaporation -------> condensation ------> precipitation ----> evaporation -------> condensation, phew, what a work out!

I've been listening to this fun mp3 from the wooster collective site over and over and over while I'm working. Have a listen! *WARNING: MAY CONTAIN CURSING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES! I think.

*So don't blast it in front of your mama or your papa or your nanna or grand pappa or your kitten or especially your little puppy dog.

Pippi Octopus

For the fair this Saturday, I am going to try to have at least 5 different ones to sell. Now who wants to come over and make softies in my non-sweaty sweatshop? Anyone? Do I see a hand raised in the back of the room?

Illustration Friday- "LOST"

Illustration Friday- "LOST", originally uploaded by m patrizio.

Nothing breaks my heart more in the winter than to see lost gloves on the sidewalk. So I was thinking if I ever become mayor of NYC I would have the NYGRU- New York Glove Recovery Unit. Found gloves would be tagged and filed according to location found. If you lose one of your gloves you just head down to the G.R.U. and see if someone has returned it. Also if I was mayor, I would hire homeless people to work at visitor info kiosks. Who would know the streets any better then them?

Oh, you are sooo fine......art.

Here is the work of Malcolm "Skip" T. Liepke , one of my art heroes! I can't get enough of his work, and they sell like hot cakes. Is a hot cake a pancake? Why don't they say they sell like pancakes? And who knew pancakes were so popular? I guess they are because we have an international house of them. In any case I love this guy's work. check it out!

I want to try this so bad!

Printing directly on to fabric!

I can't wait to buy all the stuff and try it!
